Events Room, 2nd floorJim Gould and Ted Hazelgrove examine how hope and friendship sustain Frodo’s determination and enable us to reflect on our own quest to live resiliently in challenging times.
J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings portrays an epic quest in which, in addition to military might, personal character and social relationships are central to the success of good over evil. Frodo Baggins is a hobbit who inherits an evil ring, undertakes the challenge to destroy it and saves Middle-earth. This presentation examines how hope and friendship sustain Frodo’s determination, and enables us to reflect on their place in our own quest to live resiliently in challenging times.
