Grades 6-12. Attention teen writers: the library is hosting a teen writing contest! We want to read your short mystery story featuring either a taco or a spaceship!

Attention teen writers: the Fremont Public Library is hosting a teen writing contest! We want to read your short story based on our writing prompt!

Contest Guidelines:

  • All submissions should follow this writing prompt: Write a mystery featuring either a taco or a spaceship.
  • The short story should not exceed 2,000 words.
  • Open to teens in grades 6-12.
  • Limit of 1 entry per person.
  • Submission period: January 2 - February 5, 2024.
  • Enter online using the link on the Teen page of our website or click on Teen Writing Contest 2024.

Submissions will be anonymized and judged by our Teen Advisory Board. Winner(s) will be announced by the end of March. Winning submission(s) will be featured on our website, and winner(s) will receive a $50 gift card of their choice!
