Hispanic Heritage Month

Sept. 15 - Oct. 15

Join us in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to honor the vibrant and diverse Hispanic and Latino communities that have enriched our nation’s history, culture, and economy. With strong roots in Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, the contributions of Hispanic Americans have touched every part of society—from politics and education to the arts, business, and sciences.

Why Hispanic Heritage Month Matters:

  • Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes the vital role Hispanic and Latino communities have played in shaping the United States. From political leaders and trailblazing educators to artists, musicians, and business innovators, their influence is profound.
  • This celebration also honors the independence of several Latin American countries, including Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Chile, whose independence days fall during this month.
  • It's a time to raise cultural awareness, highlight unique traditions, and ensure that future generations remain connected to their rich heritage.

The Hispanic Community in Illinois according to the 2020 US Census:
