Holds

Holds may be placed:

In person or by telephone (please have your library card handy): 

  • Adult Reference (847-918-3206)
  • Reader’s Services (847-918-3225)
  • Youth Services Desk (847-918-3218)

Through our online catalog either inside the library or from a home computer. You will be required to enter your username or barcode and password to access your account. (If you've never used our online catalog system before, your password is PATRON.) Please contact the library if you need assistance or further information about using our online catalog.

To place a hold using our online catalog

  • Enter some keywords and click search.
  • Find the title you want.
    • If the screen says Available now, call 847-566-8702 to ask us to set the copy aside for you;
      holds placed through the computer are not pulled until the next business day.
    • If the screen says All copies in use, click the Place a Hold link.
  • Click the Confirm button.

 No item may be reserved by or for a specific date.

Fremont Public Library is a member of a material-sharing consortium, and patrons may request items we do not own from other member libraries (some restrictions apply).

You will be notified by telephone or e-mail when your item is available and ready for pick-up. Reserves/holds must be picked up within five days of notification.
